History

We use Pearson Primary History to offer a 'richer and deeper curriculum experience' in our teaching of History at Cranleigh C of E Primary School.

The materials provided to our children are knowledge-rich, in that they support both substantive and disciplinary knowledge, using tools and features that typify the best in practice, based on research-led teaching.

The curriculum offer is structured to be both broad and balanced, but also rigorous and engaging through two types of resource:

Termly Units:

Largely covering the substantive knowledge - “I know that…”, these are largely teacher-led lesson resources.

Concept Toolkits:

Largely covering the disciplinary knowledge of the curriculum – “I know how…”. These are largely teacher development resources with practical tools to expand subject teaching and expertise.

The structure and sequence of learning in Pearson Primary History is progressive and carefully sequenced: in the periods studied (chronologically), as well as the substantive and disciplinary knowledge selected.
