HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGES
This week, we have made the most of the (intermittent!) sunny weather and spent lots of time on the field. Our children are all continuing to enjoy skipping with their new skipping ropes, and our PhysiFUN activities are motivating everyone to stay active.
We firmly believe in experiential learning here at Cranleigh, and, as such, have some exciting educational visits scheduled this term. Year 2 had an incredible day at The Weald and Downland Living Museum on Tuesday, and Year 4 are very much looking forward to attending Butser Ancient Farm next week. We also have trips to Drusillas Park planned for Year 1 and the University of Surrey, Guildford, for Year 5.
I have been in contact with local PC Laura Snedden again recently following my community meeting in February. Together, we are going to be arranging some exciting on-site activities for all our children to take part in, guided by Cranleigh Police's Youth Engagement Team. More information to follow soon!
Thank you to everyone who was able to complete the school's latest parent survey. Feedback is so crucial to supporting the school to move forward, and I value each and every response. Today, we have emailed a wraparound care survey to you all. The link to this is also given below. Please could all parents complete this by 4pm Wednesday. Your feedback will enable the school to plan for your needs for next academic year.
I'd like to wish you all a very happy bank holiday weekend. See you Tuesday!
Mrs Kate Pelazza; Headteacher

Please could we ask ALL parents to complete this survey by 4pm next Wednesday.
Your feedback will ensure we provide the most appropriate care for your children.

Crazy Creatures Young Writers Competition
We are so proud of our Year 5 children! Last term, they were challenged to write a story in just 100 words including a 'crazy creature'.
Some of our Year 5 children had their stories published.
We are so proud of them and all children who submitted their stories.
Well done, Year 5!

On Tuesday, our Year 2 children visited The Weald and Downland Living Museum to support their understanding of their Great Fire of London project.
Everyone had a wonderful time lighting fires in the bakehouse, learning to put out fires, baking - and eating - traditional bread, as well as learning about the water wheel that powers the mill.
A huge thank you to all Museum staff for having us!

Our Half-Termly Value: Compassion
We all need compassion.
|
|
|
The story above is both an act of compassion and a demonstration of the presence of God's kingdom. We should trust that God wants to meet the needs of His children.
Life can be challenging, and we all have a responsibility to help one another.
Watch the video of England footballer, Marcus Rashford, talking about growing up in poverty.
There is support on hand should you need it.
Cranleigh's food bank can donate food to those who need it the most.
Schools have access to Pupil Premium Funding to support those children who meet certain criteria. If you think you may be eligible for this funding, please click HERE.
And should you need any support or advice, please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of staff.

Well done to Reception and Year 3 for having the joint highest attendance this week! We're so proud of you.
Well done to Year 3 for also having the highest attendance to date this academic year. Keep up the great effort!
And please remember, every day really does count...

So please ensure your child attends school regularly and on time.
Our daily timetable can be found HERE.
The attendance page on our website can be found HERE. Here you will find Surrey's Code of Conduct relating to the issuing of fines, as well as the Department for Education's Attendance Guide for Parents.
Please remember, the issuing of a penalty notice for unauthorised leave of absence may be considered appropriate for unauthorised leave of absence in term time (5 days/10 sessions or more within a three-month period – this does not need to be consecutive) without the authorisation of the school, as well as unauthorised absences or late arrival after the close of registration, on 7 occasions in any six-week period (not including school closures).
Please contact attendance lead, and Headteacher, Mrs Pelazza on 01483 273286 if you need help with your child's attendance or punctuality.

Attendance Reward!
Don't forget, we have 2 £50 'Every Wish' gift vouchers to give away at the end of this half-term!
EVERY child who has an improved attendance - however small that improvement may be - for this half-term compared to last, and EVERY child who has an attendance of 96% or above for this half-term, will be entered into a prize draw to win one of the 2 vouchers.
The prize draw will be taking place on Friday 24th May and winners will be announced and contacted that day to collect the vouchers before half-term begins.
Now, let's try and get to school each day!

Applications to Request Leave during Term Time
A reminder that we have updated our procedures to request leave.
We are no longer accepting the paper application forms; instead, please click HERE to access the attendance section of our website. There, you will find the link to an online Google Form which will need to be completed should you wish to request leave during term time. This Form also outlines the Department for Education's regulations and the school's expectations.
If you would like any help with the new application for leave procedure, please make an appointment to see Attendance Lead, and Headteacher, Mrs Kate Pelazza, on 01483 273286, or pop into the school office to speak with Mrs Jenking, admin attendance lead.

Our Year 6 children have been spending a lot of time recently reviewing how to keep safe online. They have been looking at the 'Caught in the Web' book during some sessions, and children will be bringing home their own copy in due course.

|
|
We would like to remind all parents that no child attending our school should have access to social media and WhatsApp.
We would also encourage all parents to monitor their child's phone usage.
