HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGESIt has been an incredibly happy and successful half-term and we are so proud of the COMPASSION our school community has shown. From our PTA's 'pre-loved' uniform sale, to Reception's careful handling of ZooLab's animals and Year 1's wonderful Makaton session as part of Deaf Awareness Week; we are truly a compassionate community. Next half-term, our focus turns to ENDURANCE. We will be discussing the physical and emotional strength we may need as we face challenge, danger or adversity. And with Transition Day approaching at the start of July, we remember that this can be a difficult time for some children; however, we are here to support them every step of the way. It just leaves me to wish you all a fantastic half-term break. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 3rd June. Mrs Kate Pelazza; Headteacher |

I wanted to give you as much notice as possible to share our uniform changes. These changes will take effect from September 2024. In order to make our uniform more affordable and more comfortable for all children, we have decided to make the following changes: From September, our children will no longer need to wear shirts. Instead, they will be expected to wear white polo shirts with the school logo. From September, our children will no longer wear ties. Our uniform will therefore consist of a logo white polo shirt and a navy cardigan or jumper for the top half, and a grey skirt/grey trousers (shorts in the summer). Therefore, please do not purchase any more shirts or ties for September. We hope you will agree that our children will feel more comfortable and you will save money. We will be in touch with information regarding our new, local supplier as soon as possible (M&S will stop stocking our uniform ahead of the new academic year). |

This afternoon, Year 6 and Year 4 collaborated to write stories together. The team work was incredible! The children were actively listening and respecting each other's views; our Year 6 pupils were helping, where required, with reading and writing more complex vocabulary; and the classes were clearly enjoying the experience. Well done, Year 4 and Year 6! |

Reception had a wonderful time on Monday learning about various animals as part of ZooLab's visit. The children handled a giant snail, Joan the cockroach and met Tianna the tree frog - amongst other wonderful creatures! |
|
|
This reminds me of the time, just after Easter, when I was tasked with looking after a couple pet lizards - Lizzo and Lime - by their owner - a Year 5 pupil! And with Year 1 visiting Drusillas Park on 4th June, it just goes to show how much we love learning about, and looking after, animals here at Cranleigh Primary!! |

ClassDojoA parent has recently asked me if we will start using ClassDojo. ClassDojo is a free app that enables schools to stay in touch with parents and children in a very easy, user-friendly way. Classes are set up and information is shared both individually and via groups. This can be about the day-to-day running of the school, but also about the children's learning. Parents are alerted via the app should they receive a new notification. There is therefore no need to check emails - 'just in case'. If you would like the school to introduce ClassDojo from September, please click HERE to let us know.Thank you in advance. |

With half-term having arrived, it is crucial that we ensure our children remain safe during the extended period away from school and usual routines. The UK Safer Internet Centre recommends making a Family Agreement to 'start a conversation with your whole family about how you all use the internet and discuss together how to behave in a positive way when online...' |
