Music
We have a dedicated musical culture at Cranleigh C of E Primary. This has been created through our commitment to offer specialist instrumental lessons, experiential learning opportunities, participation in community events and ensuring our non-specialist teaching staff have a secure understanding of the curriculum they teach.
We use Charanga, a multi-award-winning music programme, to teach our Music lessons.
All curriculum documents can be found below.
We also offer weekly lessons to all Key Stage 2 children in drums, guitar and keyboard delivered by specialists from The Music Works; weekly instrumental lessons to all of Year 4 delivered by a specialist music teacher; the opportunity to join our school choir which practices each week and regularly performs at local community events and establishments; and visits to watch and listen to many different types of music at Cranleigh Arts Centre (recently, this has included a flute and harp performance, and jazz guitar). Alongside this Rocksteady attend the school weekly to deliver instrumental and vocal band lessons, supporting our children with their social and team skills through music engagement.
